Manama, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee issued Edict (18) of 2023 regarding the implementation of the guide on technical requirements and standards for commercial sports activities services
The Edict was issued in reference to Decree Law (27) of 2015 on Commercial Registration, amended by Decree Law (52) of 2018; the executive by law of (27) of 2015 on Commercial Registration, issued by Edict (126) of 2016 and amended by Edict (68) of 2018; Decree (61) of 2021 on establishing the GSA; and Decree (62) of 2021 on the regulating the GSA.
Article I
The guide on the technical requirements and standards for commercial sports activities services attached to this Edict shall be endorsed.
Article II
As per the provisions of Decree Law (27) of 2015 on Commercial Registration and executive by law issued by (126) of 2016, commercial sports activities and services except must obtain the approval of the GSA according to the technical requirements and standards for commercial sports activities and services, included in the guide attached to this edict.
Article III
The Legal Affairs and Licensing Directorate of the GSA shall examine the registration holder’s application and the documents attached to the application, and may carry out the following:
1- Inspecting the site where the service or activity to be licensed is practiced to verify that it meets the required technical requirements and standards.
2- Request the registration holder to make the necessary amendments in accordance with the required technical requirements and standards.
Article IV
Approval to practice commercial sports activities services is granted – based on the type and nature of the service or activity – according to the technical requirements and standards for sports services and commercial activities contained in the guide attached to this edict.
Article V
A register shall be created in the Legal Affairs and Licensing Directorate of the GSA in which the data of companies, institutions, or merchants requesting approval to practice sports services or commercial activities shall be documented, and the following data shall be include in it:
1- The name of the person seeking approval and proof of his identity and address.
2- The commercial name of the activity or the trade mark.
3- The type of activity.
4- The address of the business or establishment.
5- Name of the facility manager (if any).
6- The date of approval in the system (if any).
7- Any other data specified by the directorate.
