Russian, Iranian leaders agree to strengthen bilateral ties

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Ibrahim Raisi affirmed determination to continue developing the bilateral relation in the areas of trade, energy, transportation, logistics and environmental protection.

During a phone conversation on Thursday, the two leaders praised the high-level mutual ties and affirmed their determination to continue developing bilateral relations in various fields, the Russian presidency said in a statement. They discussed ways to expand cooperation on international and regional issues, including Iran’s participation as a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and its desire to join the BRICS group.

Putin expressed his condolences over the victims of the terrorist attack that took place at a mosque in the city of Shiraz on August 13.
