President Tebboune begins State visit to China

President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune began Monday a State visit to the People’s Republic of China, at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, to further strengthen the strong and historical relations and enhance the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries.

The president of the Republic arrived in Beijing from Doha where he was on a two-day working visit, during which he held discussions with the Emir of the State of Qatar, his brother Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The State visit is expected to further enhance the deep, historical relations between Algeria and China, with their comprehensive strategic nature.

Given the commitment of both states to the principle of respect and mutual interest, the two countries seek to promote their comprehensive strategic relations to higher levels and open wide perspectives in the best interests of the two countries and the two peoples.

It is from this perspective that the president of the Republic had sent a congratulation message to his Chinese counterpart on his reelection last march.

The president of the Republic had also seized that opportunity to emphasize the deep, historical relations of friendship and cooperation between Algeria and China, putting forward the need to work together to step up the comprehensive strategic partnership and raise it to higher levels reflecting the aspirations of the friendly peoples and achieve their common interests.

In a message of good wishes for the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the recovery of national sovereignty, the Chinese president welcomed the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Algeria, which has developed to reach higher levels, leading to a progressive strengthening of mutual political trust and a successful outcome of cooperation.

President Xi Jinping had expressed his desire to work together with President Tebboune for the strengthening of the historical friendship and the strategic mutual trust established between the two countries, with the intensification of contacts and the promotion of cooperation in all fields as part of the “Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

In a move to strengthen the bilateral relations, the two countries signed, in November 2022, the second five-year comprehensive strategic cooperation plan for 2022-2026, which aims to continue intensifying contacts and cooperation between Algeria and China in all fields, including economy, trade, energy, agriculture, sciences and technologies, space, health and culture, as well as to strengthen the harmonization of development strategies between the two countries.

In order to consolidate the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, the Algerian-Chinese Friendship Parliamentary Group was set up in November 2022, with the aim of getting in tune with the development of the bilateral relations and which resulted in the intensification of exchanges of high-level visits and the strengthening of consultations on several regional and international issues.

The two sides are working currently to strengthen their partnership in the new and renewable energy, notably photovoltaic solar energy, hydrogen, wind energy and geothermal energy, as well as in the field of equipment manufacturing and exploitation of mineral resources used in the renewable energy industry.
