“The president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received today a phone call from his brother, the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raissi, who extended his wishes to him and to the Algerian people on the occasion of Eid al-Adha,” the statement said.
The head of the State “thanked the Iranian president for his fraternal call, extending, to him as well as to the Iranian people, his wishes for well-being and prosperity.”
The two leaders “agreed on enhancing bilateral cooperation and speeding up the holding of the joint great commission meeting between the two countries,” the statement said.
“The Iranian president congratulated the president of the Republic on Algeria’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council,” seizing the opportunity to “congratulate the Algerian people on the 61st anniversary of Independence Day,” the statement concluded.
