Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development, met with Naif Alanazi, the Country Manager of Amazon Web Service (AWS) for Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Khaled Ahmed Al Mutawa, Deputy Chief Executive of Operations and Governance at the iGA, was present.
The minister highlighted the government’s successful experience in migrating to the cloud, as part of the Kingdom’s Cloud First Policy launched in 2017, which represented a significant step in its digital transformation efforts that enabled the development of government work to provide the best services to citizens, residents, and visitors.
She also showcased the Kingdom’s sustainability agenda and highlighted the significant contribution of cloud services and the ICT sector in achieving sustainability targets through the provision of scalable and reliable services.
Minister Alkhulaif underscored the Kingdom’s leading digital transformation strategy, which helped drive and accelerate innovation in several areas by enhancing Bahrain’s digital infrastructure.
She also affirmed the importance of further expanding the adoption of cloud technologies and services by developing the workforce skill set to meet the requirements of technological growth.
Alanazi expressed the company’s pride in cooperating with Bahrain in offering innovative solutions especially since the first AWS Regional Center for the Middle East operates in Bahrain and given that the Kingdom was one of the first countries in the world to announce the Cloud First Policy.
