Algeria’s commitment to African Development Bank welcomed

Algeria’s commitment to the African Development Bank (AfDB), through the attention it gives to African countries to support their development projects, was welcomed at the Bank’s 58th Annual Meetings, which ended on Friday in Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt), in the presence of Finance Minister, Laaziz Faid.

“The Bank’s representatives commended Algeria’s attention to African countries to support their development projects, through concrete actions, particularly in the field of trade and investment relations,” said the Ministry of Finance in a press release.

Finance Minister Laaziz Faid, in his capacity as Algeria’s Governor at this institution, seized the opportunity of this event to “hold talks views with certain Bank officials on the key reforms undertaken in Algeria to ensure a diversified and resilient economy in the face of the major challenges raised during these Annuals Meetings, and on large-scale projects with a strong impact on regional integration.”

The Minister, accompanied by a delegation of his department’s executives, met several of his African counterparts, as well as representatives of international and regional financial institutions and development agencies.

The talks were “fruitful”, reflecting “a shared will to lay solid foundations for future cooperation based on common interests in economic and social development.”

During the meetings, discussions continued on the AfDB’s activities in Algeria, the new cooperation framework currently being drawn up, and prospects for future collaboration.

The meetings provided an opportunity for members of the Bank Group’s Boards of Governors, senior executives, and development partners to explore practical ways of “mobilizing private sector financing for climate and green growth in Africa”, in line with the theme of this year’s Meetings.”
