Charles III officially crowned UK, N. Ireland, Commonwealth realms King

In a historic ceremony, King Charles III Saturday was officially crowned monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland and other Commonwealth realms. The 40th coronation ceremonyoccurred at Westminster Abbey as per a tradition dating back to 1066. The ceremony supervised by the Archbishop of Canterbury was inaugurated by the Church of England, Justin Welby, after singing religious hymns, while the attendees chanted phrases calling for King Charles III to live long.

After that, the King took the oath, announced pledges, and signed by the UK, North Ireland and Commonwealth realms’ seal, in line with the laws and religious norms.

After a brief speech by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the King was officially crowned the monarch and wore the crown, while canons were fired at Hyde Park as the start of a new royal era.

The clergymen and King’s son, Crown Prince William, Prince of Wales, announced loyalty and obedience to the crowned King, then all those present at Westminster Abbey repeated the oath behind the archbishop on loyalty to the king.

Later on, the Archbishop crowned the king’s wife, Queen Camilla, and placed the crown on her head, before she sat on a throne royal chair next to King Charles III, so that she would bear the title of Queen Camilla.

Meanwhile, a number of local and international dignitaries and leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, and US President wife, Jill Biden, as well as others, took part in the coronation ceremony.

In addition, some princes and kings of countries all over the world took part in this historic ceremony happened in the UK 70 years ago.

King Charles III became Britain’s monarch the moment his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away last September, but today’s coronation has religious symbols.
