Kuwait Public Authority for Industry discusses saving power

The Kuwaiti Public Authority for Industry (PAI) organized on Sunday a dialogue forum to discuss lowering the energy consumption for industrial facilities during peak hours. Official spokesman for PAI Waleed Al-Mujanni told KUNA that the forum came from the feeling of responsibility of the Authority, especially in light of the current circumstances in which the industrial sector faces a number of challenges during the current electricity crisis. Al-Mujanni stressed that the forum aimed to develop joint solutions to reduce electricity levels by stopping work in industrial facilities during peak hours, offering several initiatives for factory owners operating on a single shift system to change the time of their shift. He added that some factory owners actually took the initiative during the forum to stop work during peak times, expressing the Authority's appreciation for their national initiative. The forum was attended by Acting Director General of the Authority Mohammad Al-Adwani and several representative s of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Kuwait Industries Union and owners of industrial institutions. UAE donates USD 25 mln to WFP, to help ease suffering in Sudan

The United Arab Emirates signed an agreement with the UN World Food Program (WFP) on Sunday to provide emergency food assistance to populations affected by the crisis in Sudan and South Sudan, totaling USD 25 million. According to UAE news agency (WAM), the agreement includes refugees, host communities, internally displaced people, and returnees impacted by the war. Representing UAE, Sultan Al-Shamsi, Assistant Minister for International Development Affairs signed the agreement, while on the behalf of WFP it was signed by Matthew Nims, Director of Washington Office. The ceremony was also in the presence of Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General, at a special ceremony at the UAE Mission to the UN in New York. Around 17.7 million people in Sudan and 7.1 million in South Sudan facing acute food insecurity as a result of war in Sudan. To help alleviate this crisis, UAE has committed a total of USD 25 million in aid: USD 2 0 million for Sudan and USD 5 million for South Sudan. Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the World Food Programme, said, "WFP welcomes all pledges towards our lifesaving food operations in Sudan. With this contribution, we will be able to assist vulnerable people who are at risk of sliding into famine." This contribution is part of UAE's USD 70 million commitment announced in April at the "International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan and Neighboring Countries" to UN agencies and humanitarian organizations to alleviate the severe humanitarian crisis in Sudan. Kuwait Municipality blocks 245 violating buildings

The Kuwait Municipality said it has blocked 245 buildings in Farwaniya Governorate this month due to their incompliance with relevant regulations. The move came following intensive field tours by the municipality's supervision team for buildings nationwide to check for construction regulation violations, chief of Farwaniya Municipality's engineering supervision department Jassem Al-Khuder said in a press statement. The inspection tours are also intended to make sure that homeowners comply with the rules of engineering licenses and the number of allowed stories, he added. Kuwait Info. Min. checks preparations to celebrate Capital of Arab Media ’25

Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Culture Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi reviewed on Sunday the preparations of the supreme committee to celebrate Kuwait as the Capital of Arab Culture and Media 2025. During the meeting, the activities, programs, and necessary procedures and preparations related to the two occasions were reviewed to highlight the pioneering cultural and media role of Kuwait in the Arab world. The meeting discussed the coordination mechanism with all relevant authorities in the country for their participation in the activities of the two events. Israeli occupation massacres 47 Palestinians, injures 121 in ongoing Gaza attacks

In the past 24 hours, 47 Palestinians were killed and 121 others injured in three massacres committed by the Israeli occupation forces, health authorities in the Gaza Strip announced. The death toll from the occupation's assault on Gaza has reached 37,598 with 86,032 injured since October 7th, they reported in a press statement. Several victims are still under the rubble and on the streets, with emergency and civil defense teams unable to reach them, the health authorities explained. Meanwhile, Human Rights and Civil Society Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) condemned the ongoing crimes by the occupation in Gaza, including targeting unarmed civilians, women and children, and destroying civilian infrastructure, which is a blatant violation of human rights. In a press statement today, the department called for immediate and decisive international action to stop the aggression, genocide, and military escalation, demanding that perpetrators of these crimes be referred to international courts for accountability. The Human Rights Department urged countries to document the Israeli occupation's crimes against Palestinians in preparation for prosecuting the occupation leaders, calling on member states of the international community to acknowledge and record these crimes, including those against humanity and severe human rights violations, to ensure fair and just prosecution in international courts. Kuwait Municipality warns homeowners of basement rentals

Kuwait Municipality warned homeowners on Sunday against renting out their house basements as warehouses for storing goods. Inspection teams have recently noticed several random ads seeking to rent private basements in residential areas at high prices after the Municipality cleared out several commercial basements for violating safety codes, said Municipality Spokesperson Mohammad Sendan in a press statement. "Many private homeowners are renting out their basements as warehouses for storing food, furniture, and flammable or toxic items to earn extra monthly income, which endangers properties and human lives and is a serious violation of municipal regulations and law," said Sendan. The Municipality will be on the lookout for such violators, Sendan confirmed, adding that citizens and residents can report any violations to the Municipality Hotline (139) or WhatsApp number (24727732).
