Bejaia: The 14th Bejaia International Theatre Festival, dedicated to celebrating the African continent, drew to a close on Friday evening with a poignant tribute to the esteemed actor Mustapha Ayad. The event was hosted at the Abdelmalek Bouguermouh regional theatre, marking the end of a vibrant celebration of theatrical arts.
According to Algeria Press Service, the festival’s closing ceremony paid homage to Mustapha Ayad, a stalwart of the theatre world who has captivated audiences for over fifty years. Ayad’s contributions to the dramatic arts in Algeria, alongside some of the country’s most celebrated artists, were highlighted during this tribute.
A documentary film was presented, chronicling the illustrious career of Mustapha Ayad, which was greatly influenced by his artistic upbringing. Ayad, son of the legendary actor Rouiched (born Ahmed Ayad), expressed that the tribute was a recognition not only of his career but also of his father’s enduring legacy.
In addition to honoring Mustapha Ayad, the cere
mony recognized the efforts of the festival’s organizers and contributors, who played a pivotal role in the success of this African cultural event in the city of Bejaia.
